Carnival Glass

Carnival glass was an inexpensive iridescent pressed glass, made as both functional and decorative objects, and produced in the US and other countries, principally between 1905 and 1930. It is still made today. Carnival glass gets its iridescent sheen from the application of metallic salts while the glass is still hot from the pressing, then re-firing the glass. Its name originated from the fact fact that it was often a give-away at carnivals, particularly when it became less popular. It had a resurgence in popularity during the 1960s.
