1901 U362 Envelope Syracuse Chilled Plow Frank Webb Letter

This March 20, 1901 postmarked USPS envelope (U362?) and letter and envelope may be of genealogical, historica, or philatelic interest. The letter is from the Syracuse Chilled Plow Co. and contains a two-sheet, three page letter. The letter is from Frank (Francis) Hall to his father Robert A Hall of 293 Carroll St. Elmira, NY. Based on a little on-line research, it appears that Frank was the recently appointed Vice President, Syracuse Chilled Plow Co. The gist of the letter seems to be that Frank is responding a letter from his father about a diagnosis of a lung ailment of his brother, Rob. Jr. and a request for money for treatment. He commits to paying a third, and the letter goes into a long list of bills due that Frank must pay. Given some of the amounts cited ($35 a month for hand laundry, when the average workers wage was only $8 a week), some sound like business costs. The father died in 1910, Rob Jr. was executor with his mother, and the Syracuse Chilled Plow Company was sold to John Deere that year.
