For one money is this lot of three souvenir spoons commemorating the destruction of the Battleship Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898 and the start of the Spanish American war. All three spoons are marked Crown Silverplate Co. on the back, and the front designs have different views of the battleship. One says "Battleship Maine, Blown up in Havana Harbor Feb 15, 189"8, and has a portrait of Captain Sigsbee on the handle. The second says "Battleship Maine" and "Captain Sigsbee," and the third just says "U.S.S. Battleship Maine". They all have various degrees of wear, The one with the Sigsbee portrait has some yellowish base metal showing on the bottom of the bowl and has a corrosion spot on the battleship in the bowl, but overall they are in good shape. The spoons are about 4.25 inches (11 cm) long.
