US Paper Money

This category has United States paper money, including older collectible federal reserve notes, confederate notes, and fractional currency. In grading the currency we follow these guidelines:

Uncirculated: Low Uncirculated have no evidence of circulation (folds, wear), but in lower grades may have toned paper, small stain, or slight fading.

About Uncirculated: range from no more than two vertical folds or a single horizontal fold (folds not heavy at the low end to a minor problem that precludes the note from grading to uncirculated.

Extremely Fine: Extremely fine notes will likely have seen little to no circulation. The note may have up to three folds, one of which may be horizontal.

Very Fine: Still crisp, but may show a bit of circulation or light soiling. May have several light folds.

Fine: Considerable circulation, rounded corners, pinholes, minor margin splits may be present, but the note will be whole with solid paper.

Very Good: A solid, whole note with lots of circulation. Too limp or too many minor problems to make a fine grade.

Good: Very worn, serious splits, fraying of the margins and minor damage is evident.
