This is a General Service 2 piece uniform button. The backmark reads "Morgan, Puhl & Morris, Detroit Mich." It is a whisker over 22 mm in diameter. The shank is brazed onto the back.

This backmark is uncommon, and took a bit of searching to track it down. This style US uniform button was in service from 1854 to 1902, however the Morgan, Puhl & Morris only existed only from 1892 to 1905, so this button was produced between 1892 and 1902. In all likelihood is a Spanish American war uniform piece.

The Button is worn and almost all the gold gilt is gone. Despite the wear, if you collect 19th US Military buttons, this is a nice hard to find addition to your collection
