This is the first printing of the first hard cover edition of the of the 1958 novel, They Came to Cordura, by Glendon Swarthout. In fact, it was a promotional copy from NBC WRCA Radio (at Radio City) to the sales manager of the Sunshine Biscuit company, with a typed and signed letter extolling the virtues of the book, and encouraging Sunshine Biscuit to advertise with RCA.
The book is very good condition with some yellowing spots on the white fabric cover, light spotting on the inside boards and on the facing pages, and the page edges have some light yellowing. There is no writing except a tiny penciled in price on the inside. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with strong colors on the face, but some fading and color shifts on the dust jacket spine. The jacket has some tiny edge tears and wear and rubbing on the edges. Despite theses flaws, this is a very attractive copy in very collectable condition. The WRCA sales manager enthusiastic testimony is a nice touch. This book was made into a film in 1958 with Gary Cooper, Rita Hayworth and Van Heflin. The book was published by Random House, New York.
