Catalin Bakelite Celluloid Letter Opener Marbleized Butterscotch

This attractive letter opener likely dates from the 1940s or earlier. It has a pleasing marbleized pattern of clear, butterscotch, and brown. It is made of either Celluloid or Catalin Bakelite (it was not tested). The edge of the opener is ground and polished. It has no chips, cracks, or damage, and only slight wear. Catalin Bakelite was widely used from 1928 to about World War II. Celluloid was widely used from the 19th century to 1950s.
