This sterling silver spoon dates from the first half of the 20th century, and it is a souvenir of Nashville Tennessee and the Andrew Jackson Hermitage. It is a bit over 4 inches long and on the back it is marked sterling. The Hermitage is the Nashville Tennessee estate of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. The spoon has the makers mark of a backwards B and K within a diamond. This is the mark of the Bates and Klinke Company of Attleboro Massachusetts. The company was founded in 1919 by Harold Bates and Oscar Klinke, and continued under this name through the 1940s. Attleboro was a major center for jewelry production in the early 20th century, and Bates and Klinke are noted for making souvenir silver charms, spoons, medals, and military insignia. The spoon is undamaged but does have some tarnish spots.
