Vitro Agate Marble Company of Parkersburg, West Virginia operated from 1932 to 1969, when it was acquired and by the Gladding Corporation, and became Gladding-Vitro. They began making cat's eye marbles in the 1950s. The first of these had four thick and somewhat frilly vanes of various colors embedded in super clear glass. These were likely made through 1969. These Vitro cat's eyes are easy to tell apart from Marble King cat's eyes, where the vanes were thin and straight. Most vintage marbles were made with a clear glass base. This example appears to be rare Vitro cat's eye marble with white non crossing imperfectly formed vanes in a transparent light blue glass. It was played with, and has sparkles, small chips, and wear, but despite the condition, a blue glass cat's eye is still collectable. It is just about 5/8 inch in diameter. This marble has some strong similarities to a Peltier transparent base Rainbo, but the glass is not bubbly enough, and the ribbons should be more on the surface.
