Potting Shed Dedham Pottery Frog in Tie Figurine

This crackle glaze frog figurine was made by The Potting Shed company of West Concord, MA. The company formed in 1977 by Massachusetts pottery artists and fans of Dedham Pottery, famous for its crackle glaze, and which closed its factory in 1943.

This frog is dated 1988 and is signed by the artist and marked USA. It is 4 inches tall and has no cracks, chips, or repairs, but of course has the intentional crazing. It looks like it may have been modeled after a Beatrix Potter character or Arnold Lobel's Frog and Toad. Most of the 1980s figurines were produced for limited periods and some are hard to find.
