Pair of Wedgwood Edme Garden Club Auriculus Coffee Cups Saucers

We are selling together this pair of matching cups and saucers made by Wedgwood of England in their old Garden Club pattern (AK8565). The Garden Club pattern used the cream-colored white ribbed earthenware or Queensware shape known as Edme. The Garden Club pattern (AK8565) was first produced in 1935, and produced possibly to the 1970s, then discontinued.

These pieces are decorated with flowers of Auriculus, also known as Primula or Cowslip. The cups are three inches tall, and 3 3/4" plus in diameter excluding handle. The saucers are 6+ inches in diameter. They are a larger cup size that I am calling a coffee cup, and are different in size and decoration than the demitasse tea cup, the luncheon cup (decorated with bluebells), or the regular teacup, decorated with Pyrethrums. In fact these appear to be fairly rare pieces of the set. They have slight evidence of use but have no cracks chips or repairs. They both have a small circular faint discolored circle inside the bowl probably from spoon bang. The pieces have a light and faint crazing, but are not discolored, and the crazing is not obvious. There are a few underglaze specks common to the Edme Queensware.
