This older Canon EF Zoom lens with a metal mount was one of their best 28-80mm kit lens, featuring a fast USM auto focus motor, and very good optics. This metal lens mount version was the first version of the EF 28-80, and many consider this version their best quality kit lens in this focal range. This example is in great working condition, the auto focus works fine, the image quality is crisp, and the housing has little wear. There are no scratches, haze, or fungus on the glass. The only blemish is literally a couple of faint blemishes on the reflective coating on the outer glass. It looks like something rubbed on the glass. It is hard to see in the photos, but in one photo, with light reflecting on the coating, you can just make out what looks like two faint horizontal lines at 4 o'clock. The faint mark is not noticeable looking straight on or through the lens.
This is a nice lens, with good close-up ability (minimum focus is about 15 inches). The lens was originally made for film SLR EOS Rebel cameras, but works perfectly well with modern DSLR EOS cameras like the digital Rebels. It is of course designed for full-frame 35mm film, so it can also be adapted to full frame cameras as well. The photo of the begonia flowers and apple blossoms illustrate image quality even in close-ups. No lens caps included.
