Vintage Lrg Christmas Nativity Donkey Italy Paper Mache Newburys

This is a vintage nativity donkey to an old Christmas manger or creche set. It has a price tag from the (J.J) Newbury's Department store chain, which covers most of the ink stamped mark "ITALY." The 69 cent Newbury's tag has the code 47-14/2 which likely stands for February 14, 1947, a system used on old department store chains to track old inventory and pricing. This donkey is from the harder to find larger house set and stands 4 /12 inches tall and almost 6 1/2 inches wide (11.5 x16 cm). It has some wear a light paint loss on the base, but has no cracks, chips, or repairs. It looks like a Fontanini piece (not the eyes), but we're not 100% sure.
