North Yakima, Washington Antique Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon

This is an antique sterling demitasse spoon that was a souvenir of Washington State. The bowl is inscribed North Yakima. It features an enameled lozenge of George Washington. It is a bit over 4 inches long and weighs about 8.2 grams. It has an ornate handle, and both the handle and the back of the enameled lozenge are marked sterling. The back of the lozenge also has the maker's mark of Edward Todd & Co. of New York, NY. The company was founded 1871 and went out of business by about 1930. Edward Todd & Co. was primarily known as a manufacturer of silver writing instruments & desk items. The city of North Yakima existed between 1886 and 1918, when the city's name changed to Yakima. This spoon likely dates to the early 20th century. The spoon is in its original as-found tarnished condition but can be polished to a bright finish if desired.
