This gold on porcelain cup features a drawing of the town of Baile Gavora, Romania. Baile Govora (or just Govora) is a Romanian spa town in Vâlcea County, west of the Olt river. It very likely predates World War II, and might have been made in the 1900-1920 period
Both the cup and saucer have large brown as made splotches under the glaze. There is wear to the gold, particularly on the saucer, and the saucer also has a chipped base ring. This is an imperfect tourist quality set, but it is rare to find any early 20th century Romanian items in the US, and this example is unusual in that it has a fine line drawing of a village.
