Vintage Wells Gold on Sterling and Chrysoberyl Cat's Eye Brooch

This is a small (1 1/8 inch across), but well-made vintage pin or brooch. It is marked WELLS STERL. It features a chrysoberyl cat's eye cabochon set like a flower with leaves in a gold on sterling (vermeil) setting. Chrysoberyl is a hard fine-grain chatoyant gemstone superior to the softer and coarser quartz based tigers eye. The clasp is tiny, but works. Wells Jewelry was an Attleboro, MA business in operation from 1922 to 1978. This piece likely dates to the 1940s or earlier.
