M.F. Christensen & Son (1904-1917) was the first company to patent a marble-making machine. The most commonly collected and desirable type of M.F. Christensen marbles is their colorful slag marbles. This company’s marbles typically have a number "9" at one base because of hand gathering of glass to be dropped into their marble machine. Good Christensen Agates Slags with 9 swirls typically sell $10 to $30.
Other M.F. Christensen and son marbles include opaques, oxblood bricks, and a rare persion oxblood. These are all hard to find and very pricey for the genuine articles.
