Here is a fun vintage collectible Pixie Pipe Planter made by the Gilner Potteries Company of Culver City, California. The company produced the Pixie line from 1948-1958, but the design of this pixie, its chartreuse color with bow tie, places its manufacturer to around 1953 or later. The base is marked GILNER. Because of the pixie sitting on the pipe stem, it's center of balance is toward the edge of the pipe bowl, it has a slight rock on hard flat surfaces.
Gilner Pixies are distinct from other pixie lines in that they typically have dimples on their cheeks, their ears are pointed, their hats are made of leaves, and their faces are painted unglazed bisque.
The pixie's face has some dirt smudges, and the base has wear, but overall the piece is in good shape, with no cracks, chips, or repairs.
