Castle Films first released this 8mm film in 1963, and then rereleased it in the Super 8 format after 1965. The Many Moods of Skiing replaced their 1950s film called Ski Hi Ski Lo. This example is in good shape. There is no separate leader but the first part of the film has the handwritten text shown in the photo from its production. It is a five-inch real.

Standard 8mm film has a frame size of 4.5mm x 3.3mm whereas Super 8 film has a frame size of 5.79mm x 4.01mm with smaller sprockets to fit on the 8mm film stock.. When Super 8 film came out in 1965, the goal was to make the frame size larger to provide more detail for a larger projection area, and this was possible only by making the sprocket hole smaller. Castle Films was a Californian film distributor in business from 1924 to 1977, when Universal Studios acquired it and renamed the company Universal 8. The company then soon folded in the early 1980s because of competition from home video.
