M.F. Christensen & Son "9" and Tail Amber Slag Marble

This antique machine-made marble was made by M.F. Christensen & Son, which was in business between 1904 and 1917. It is an amber slag marble, and can by identified by its 9 with a tail swirl design, the result of placing hand gathered glass in the marble machine rollers. This example is attractive, with a small 9 and one pole, and a large reverse 9 at the opposite pole. It is just below 11/16 inch in diameter, but does not pass through 21/32 inch. It has a shallow tick (to the right of the stem of the nine in the magnified view and barely visible), some as-made air bubble dimples, and a couple of tiny scratches, and therefore grades NM+.
