This is a school baseball team participation pin. It is a screw back design, with the wheel labeled Herff Jones, and the cast brass base labeled HJ CO. It is about 3/4 inches tall. It is a generic design without a school name and was likely widely used. Herff Jones was founded by Harry J. Herff and Randall H. Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1920. The company manufactured school insignia jewelry, medals, and class rings, and has continued under various ownership to the present day. This style pin with a screw back probably dates to the 1940s or 1950s. It has nice detail for such a small pin.
